Next I mark my pattern and score and carve the pieces.

These hand huned Retablos, Bultos and Altar Screens  are sanded and made ready for gesso.

ASPENS
Aspens were dominant on the high sierra of the San Luis Valley and were popular to carve as well. Scrub oak made handles of the plows and tools.

There was very little imported materials brought to this remote area during colonial times--a good piece of iron or steel went a long way here.
